2024 is a special year for ROLEDS, a year in which we’ve been continuously honored with some of the most prestigious awards in the international lighting industry – the iF Design Award, the Red Dot Design Award, the G-Mark, and the LIT Lighting Design Award. These remarkable achievements are more than about honor, for many brands, they’re the testament that the products are internationally recognized, emphasizing our commitment to providing innovative and sustainable outdoor lighting solutions globally.

The development of these award-winning products is built on the evolving needs of modern cities, which, demanding intelligence, versatility, sustainability, and minimalist appearance, are the perfect backdrop for our innovations. Leading this transformation is Tao Chen, ROLEDS Industrial Designer, who, along with his team, has crafted four cutting-edge lighting solutions: 7in1 Full-Color Intelligent Floodlight – GOLF, MatriX 7 Modular Floodlight, Modular Smart Pole, and Low-Level Smart Street Light. Each of these products reflects ROLEDS’ philosophy – where light is free to express itself without limits, with a strong emphasis on customization and energy efficiency.

7in1 Full-Color Intelligent Floodlight – GOLF

Unlike the common RGB or RGBW color mixing technology on the market, which often limits both color options and fidelity, the design team wants to create a luminaire that allows for the free expression of colors, mimicking the richness and fidelity of natural light. Retaining the minimal appearance of the GOLF series, the 7in1 Full-Color Intelligent Floodlight boasts a broad color spectrum close to the natural spectrum of sunlight, courtesy of a better color mixing technology — using an integrated 7-in-1 lens and seven specially selected LED lamp beads in 6 distinct colors: Red, Green, Lime, Royal blue, PC Amber, Cyan. A self-developed digital color system facilitates the intuitive adjustments for perfect color expression, with a default color library offering flexible choices from dozens of classic colors.

MatriX 7 Modular Floodlight

Our MatriX Modular Floodlight has evolved into 7.0 version. In this new iteration, the designer has focused on expanding its accessories and adopting more durable materials and manufacturing techniques to make it versatile to a range of outdoor lighting requirements. Equipped with a die-cast body and tempered glass cover, MatriX 7.0 features modular lenses and versatile brackets for endless possibilities and unlimited design freedom, like the flexible combination of basic units and pole-mounted applications.

Modular Smart Pole

Modern cities benefit from efficiency. We’ve embraced this by developing a multifunctional pole that integrates various digital technologies and IoT capabilities to provide more than just illumination. The result is the innovative MatriX Modular Smart Pole. It sustains the modular structure of the MatriX series, allowing for flexible customization of various components, including LED lights, traffic lights, security cameras, Wi-Fi hotspots, and even EV charging stations. Combining functionality with a sleek, modern aesthetic, it’s ideal for diverse applications such as roads, parks, squares, and similar outdoor spaces.

Level Smart Street Light

The Low-Level Smart Street Light draws inspiration from the streamlined appearance of the blue whale, featuring a sleek and stylish design. To minimize glare, the design team selects anti-glare lenses to reduce unnecessary light from the source, while developing an original design combining low and high beams to improve light uniformity and illumination range. Integrated with a smart lighting management system, the light automatically dims the light based on weather sensors and traffic flow, ensuring optimal illumination when needed. The street light offers a “wake-up” mode with blue light to ease fatigue during late-night drives. In emergencies, an alert system with red light signals provides a warning distance of over 100 meters to help prevent secondary accidents.

On March 8th, we showcased the four cutting-edge outdoor lighting innovations at the Light + Building in Frankfurt. They sparked lively discussions among friends from around the world in the lighting industry. The interest was more than the technical features of the products, but about how they could transform real-world spaces. The response at the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (autumn edition) in October was equally overwhelming. Visitors were captivated by the outstanding design and lighting effects of the four products, as well as their emphasis on customization and sustainability.

But this is only the beginning. At ROLEDS, we view the 2024 awards as a sign of the journey ahead, not the destination. We will continue to push the limits of innovation, ensuring that every product we create has a meaningful impact on the world around us.
